Lady in Red

Medium: Pastel

Size: 12" x 16"

Year: 1989

The first fashion illustration I had ever done. Again, all in pastel but this time it was abstract and not realistic like when I first set out to conquer this medium. It was inspired by an artist by the name of Patrick Nagel. A friend of mine was so in love with Nagel's work that he just have to have me do some painting in this style. Unfortunately Patrick Nagel had recently passed away at that time and of course his work sky rocketed in value so my friend couldn't even fathom of buying one of Nagel's painting. I said sure, if I could do a painting of a person realistically then I could do it abstractly also. So Set out to do one for him and later did this one for myself. I always have the designer blood in me; it just that I like the challenge of surrealism painting more.
